Die Legende vom Breitwieser Schani
St. Andrä-Wördern-based composer Gilbert Handler together with author Peter Danzinger wrote a so-called Musikspektakel (music spectacle), which saw its first night, in the town, at HÖR.KUNST.FESTIVAL „Eing´steckt is!“ on the 17th of May 2024.
From the text to the first night:
The composition was written for electronics, barrel organ, solo voices, choir, viola da gamba, contrabass guitar, bass and brass ensemble. Their electro-acoustic sounds are distributed throughout the room via a loudspeaker orchestra, thus creating a sound sculpture surrounding the audience.

Johnny Breitwieser - Eine Verbrecher-Ballade aus Wien
The play saw its very first night on November 28, 2014 in Vienna's Schauspielhaus theatre. Music by Jherek Bischoff
From the text to the first night:
Thomas Arzt translates Breitwieser's fast life into a short sequence of scenes, sometimes in its own version of Viennese dialect: a ballad written for the stage, perfectly accompanied by the eerily beautiful music of young US pop-composer Jherek Bischoff, using string quartett and percussion as live elements.
